What method did u use to form your locs? I would like to start but idk if I want to start with two strand twist or finger coils

Since I didn’t start with a TWA, my hair was palm rolled and interlocked for the first month or so. After that, I continued palm rolling my locs without interlocking. For shorter hair, two-strand twists might offer better hold during washes. However, comb coils are great for really short hair. Hope this helps!

Still I Rise

You may write me down in history
With your bitter, twisted lies,
You may tread me in the very dirt
But still, like dust, I’ll rise.

Does my sassiness upset you?
Why are you beset with gloom?
'Cause I walk like I've got oil wells
Pumping in my living room.

Just like moons and like suns,
With the certainty of tides,
Just like hopes springing high,
Still I’ll rise.

Did you want to see me broken?
Bowed head and lowered eyes?
Shoulders falling down like teardrops.
Weakened by my soulful cries.

Does my haughtiness offend you?
Don’t you take it awful hard
'Cause I laugh like I've got gold mines
Diggin’ in my own back yard.

You may shoot me with your words,
You may cut me with your eyes,
You may kill me with your hatefulness,
But still, like air, I’ll rise.

Does my sexiness upset you?
Does it come as a surprise
That I dance like I’ve got diamonds
At the meeting of my thighs?

Out of the huts of history’s shame
I rise
Up from a past that’s rooted in pain
I rise
I’m a black ocean, leaping and wide,
Welling and swelling I bear in the tide.
Leaving behind nights of terror and fear
I rise
Into a daybreak that’s wondrously clear
I rise
Bringing the gifts that my ancestors gave,
I am the dream and the hope of the slave.
I rise
I rise
I rise.

Hi! I decided to start my lock journey a few days ago. I spritz with water or allow steam in the shower to do stuff... but I was wondering what type of routine should I do since to promote budding? ~Thank you

Hi! No matter what stage of growth your locs are in, spritzing them with water is a great way to keep them hydrated and healthy. I spray my locs in between washes because the water helps to remove any lint on the surface of the hair before it can get trapped. The water also naturally tightens my curls or “buds” which helps to maintain strong roots. You’ll need strong roots for when you hair gets much longer! The budding stage simply continues with new hair growth even after your locs have matured. For new locs, you may want to try adding a few pinches of sea salt to your water. The salt helps the budding process, but only use the salt solution once a week or so because it can be drying. Always air dry your locs completely (preferably in the sun) before you tie them up. I hope this helps and congrats on your journey :)
